In this video I demonstrate how to play "Whiskey Before Breakfast" using melodic style banjo.
The B section of the song utilizes a more roll-based style.
The video clocks in at just over ten minutes. All left hand and right hand fingerings are slowly discussed. Where applicable, roll patterns are numerically shown on the screen as well.
This video assumes a basic knowledge of your three major chord forms including the barre and what some refer to as the "F shape" and "D shape". It also assumes basic knowledge of right-hand rolls.
Included in the video download is the TAB in pdf format.
Anyone purchasing this course has email access to me for any questions concerning the material. Also please note that all videos are shot in HD 1080p video format and are recorded using a high quality condenser microphone; video and audio quality are important to us.

I have been playing and teaching for over 20 years. During that time I've been fortunate enough to perform on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Ryman Auditorium and The Grand Ole Opry. In addition to playing as a solo artist I perform with the Chuck Nation bluegrass band, as well as in the Banjo+Cello duo called Bow Nā Banjo. I'm a three time Georgia State Banjo and Flatpick Guitar winner and the 2006 Merlefest Banjo winner.
I studied Music Theory and Jazz Improvisation under nationally acclaimed pianist Kevin Bales for five years. Studying improvisation under a pianist provided me with a unique outlook for all of my music studies. My extensive training in a variety of musical systems (Bluegrass, Jazz, Popular, Classical) has given me knowledge of both the formal and aural/traditional systems.
When I'm not performing or teaching, I spend most of my time developing educational material for banjo as well as writing original compositions.
